Description

Access and progression of adults potentially covers a wide area of practice. The project this thematic working group focussed on adults who have progressed on beyond initial education (i.e. in schools, colleges, universities) and who have had a break from their initial studies.

A particular concern of this group was to identify research and approaches to research which focus on excluded groups of adults who for one reason or other are not engaging in learning, both formal or non-formal in all sectors of education i.e. colleges and universities, community and voluntary sector learning work-based learning, the approaches used to engage adult learners and the kind of support which encourages ongoing participation.
